Scott Richardson Founding Principal
Mr. Richardson graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Interior Design and minors in Industrial and Graphic Design with additional coursework in photography and glass. Scott was identified as the top graduate in his class by the Agnes Gund Foundation Scholarship.
In 1991, Mr. Richardson joined Fitch, Inc. in Columbus, OH as a Designer in the company’s Consumer Environments team. While at Fitch, Mr. Richardson was responsible for the design and development of a variety of branded retail environments, restaurants, exhibitions and entertainment venues. Some of his clients included IBM, Reebok, Mazda Motors, 7-Eleven, Kraft Foods and Blockbuster Entertainment.
In January, 1994, Scott founded Richardson Design, a firm that has gained a global reputation for their work in the creation of themed environments for Universal Studios’ Islands of Adventure to creative placemaking for Stark Enterprises and brand showrooms for GE.
Many of Mr. Richardson’s projects have been recognized for excellence by organizations such as the International Interior Design Association and the Institute of Store Planners. The firm’s work has been published in ID, VM&SD, Cleveland, and Northern Ohio Live Magazines as well as The Cleveland Plain Dealer and The New York Times. Mr. Richardson was recognized by Promosedia, an Italian furnishings manufacturer and included in a European traveling exhibition of American Designers.
Scott currently holds a visiting faculty appointment at the Cleveland Institute of Art.
