Kat Hoy Designer
Kat graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 2007 with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in Interior Design, and a minor in Industrial Design. During five years at CIA, Kat experienced a diverse course schedule including studies in psychology, environmental sculpture, photography, avant-guarde film and vernacular architecture. Her insight into hospitality, retail and brand environments design developed from her school experiences, internships with American Greetings, Design Forum, and Richardson Design as well as numerous freelance commissions.
Upon graduation, Kat stayed on at Richardson Design where she is an integral part of the Design team. Richardson’s clients benefit from Kat’s diverse skill set as she is often called upon to bring a fresh set of eyes to the firm’s projects resulting in solutions that sometimes lead to unexpected positive results. Because of Kat’s unique approach to problem solving, she defines herself as a “design vagabond.”
Kat blogs daily at designvagabond, a general art and design blog, and five6, a residential and commercial architecture, interiors and event blog. She is passionate about psychology and cognitive development, cycling, horror films, printmaking, rock climbing, traveling and baking.
